Bus to Hike: The Midsund Stairs to Rørsethornet

From NOK 120

Molde - Rakvåg nord - Molde

This round trip goes to Rakvåg on the island Otrøya in the Romsdalsfjord and to the mountain Rørsethornet.

Note! This trip is not bookable in school holidays, for example the summer holiday and the autumn break, as the return bus only operates on school days.

With bus and ferry you travel to Rakvåg. You take the bus to the bus stop Rakvåg Nord (Rakvåg North). From the bus stop you walk approx. 500 metres back in the direction the bus came from, to the starting point for the hike.

Up to the mountain Rørsethornet you follow one of the “Midsund Stairs”. Sherpas from Nepal have built fantastic stone steps up the mountain side. The steps protect the ground and make the hike safer, especially in wet weather.

Seeing the stone work is worth the trip alone. Adding a fantastic view to mountains, fjord and the ocean definitely make this hike worthwhile.

The hike up the stairs will make your heart rate increase and might take your breath away if you are nervous of heights. However, when you reach the top you will have the most amazing 360 degree view. You will see the ocean, as well as the fjord and other mountains. There are several view points and spots to take a break on the way up.

The trip is open for booking also in the winter, but in the winter season it may not always be advisable to do the hike. Check the conditions before you go!

There is no possibility to buy any food or drinks near the starting point for this hike, so make sure to bring everything you need.

Before doing the hike to Rørsethornet we recommend that you prepare by reading more about the hike, for example on visitnorway.com. (Search for Midsundtrappene.)

When you book this trip, you will receive an e-mail with a ticket that is valid for the whole trip. You will also receive a tour description that contains detailed information about departure times and where you must change to another bus, boat of ferry – when applicable. The tour description also includes some information about the trip and the destination.

For many of the trips there is a free audio guide available that you can download to your mobile phone. The guide displays text, pictures, and audio information about points of interest along the route. The tour description you receive includes more information about downloading the audioguide.
