Round trip to Molde and the Atlantic Road

Åndalsnes - Molde – the Atlantic Road – Molde - Åndalsnes

This trip takes you from Åndalsnes via Molde to what is often described as the world’s most beautiful road, Norwegian Scenic Route the Atlantic Road. You have some time in Molde before and after the trip to the Atlantic Road.

Molde is famous for its view towards the “Molde Panorama”, the impressive row of mountains on the other side of the fjord. Located between sea and mountains and with a short distance from the one to the other, you can explore the fjord, the town centre and the mountains behind the town in a short time.

In the summer, the town lives up to its name “Town of roses”, and in July the famous Molde International Jazz Festival takes place.

With its location at the edge of the mighty ocean, the Atlantic Road is as beautiful in sunshine and calm weather as in full storm and rain. The Atlantic Road connects Averøy with the mainland via a series of small islands and islets spanned by a total of eight bridges over 8274 meters.

The Atlantic Road – Atlanterhavsvegen - is a Norwegian Scenic Route. Norwegian Scenic Routes are selected roads that run through landscapes with unique natural qualities, along coasts and fjords, mountains and waterfalls. The routes are intended as alternatives to the main roads, and the drive itself should be an enjoyable experience. On this round trip, the bus stops at Eldhusøya, where you can take a walk on the suspended walkway around the islet. The walkway consists of latticework (“grids”) “floating” above the terrain and is suitable for or anyone.

The service building at Eldhusøya, with its distinct architecture that falls into the terrain, has a café and toilets. (Open Saturdays and Sundays in the spring and every day 1st June – 31st August.)

The area also offers a magnificent landscape, a rich bird life and great fishing opportunities.

About our trips

This is a “Travel like the locals” tour. The tours use public transport, i.e. regular buses, ferries and boats, but we have done the planning for you so that you can concentrate on enjoying your trip. You travel on your own - there is no guide or tour leader. On most of our tours you must change several times between different buses/ferries/boats, and it is up to you to make sure you catch your connections – truly travelling like a local! (The tours are set up so that the buses, ferries and boats connect.)

Tours are not available for booking on public holidays and during holiday periods such as Easter and Christmas due to deviations in the timetables. The timetable shown is valid for the periods when the tour is bookable.
