Åndalsnes is a nice town, majestically situated between the fjord and the mountains. Around Åndalsnes you have all possibilities to experience various activities, from stand-up paddling in the rivers to mountain hikes at all levels, via ferrata, or a gondola ride to the top of the Nesaksla mountain – where the view is spectacular. Ålesund - Molde This trip takes you from Ålesund to Molde, a charming town beautifully situated by the fjord. You go by FRAM Ekspress line 100 all the way from Ålesund to Molde. The last part of the trip is a ferry passage. The bus drives onto the ferry and continues to Molde traffic terminal when the ferry reaches Molde. During the ferry crossing you may leave the bus to enjoy the view and visit the café on board the ferry. You should try the local speciality “svele”. Molde is famous for its view towards the “Molde Panorama”, the impressive row of mountains on the other side of the fjord. In the summer period you may visit the original lighthouse keeper’s house. Here you will find an exhibition about the history of the lighthouse, a summer café, and temporary art exhibitions. The new Alnes Cultural Center features a café that is open all year round where you can buy homemade cakes and traditional food from the area. There is also an art gallery. Ålesund - Langevåg - Ålesund The express boat trip to Langevåg gives you a taste of the Sunnmøre coast. It only takes about 7-8 minutes to go from Ålesund town centre to via small islets and skerries to the island of Sula and the village Langevåg. The voyage crosses the Borgundfjord which is known for the cod fishing that takes place there in the winter months of February to April. If you don’t have much time available you can take a round trip with the boat. You will see a little of the fjord and the landscape around Ålesund. Hopefully, you have some more time to spend, and we recommend combining the boat trip with a visit to Langevåg village centre and Devoldfabrikken (Devold Factory Outlet). You may also have time for a hike in the mountains near Langevåg. The Sula mountains include several peaks, including Blåfjell, Rollonhytta and Vardane, and you can spend from a couple of hours to a full day hiking. It is also possible to stroll along the beaches if you walk through Langevåg towards Sandvika and further on to the seaside. Whether you have been shopping or been on a hike, a break at the old dining hall of the Devold factory outlet could be a welcome. This is now a café, and the interior is inspired by its former function. You can also visit the Devold Museum, a textile museum telling the story behind Devold of Norway. A fun fact about the Devold factory: they were the first to get electricity at Sunnmøre. And only four years after Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. Devold were also among the first in Norway to start using the telephone. This happened when the production was moved from Ålesund to Langevåg. Ålesund - Hamnsund - (Finnøya - Hamnsun) - Ålesund For this trip you have two options: you may take a boat trip only from Ålesund to Hamnsund via Valderøy and Store Kalvøy back to Ålesund with a duration of approx. one hour, or you can combine the boat trip with a bus ride to Finnøya and back. On the boat trip you will have fantastic views of the “seascape” with lots of small islands, islets and skerries. This is a great trip if you don’t have so much time available for an adventure. Note that the stops underway are short and you must therefore stay on board for the whole journey. If you choose to combine boat and bus, you start by taking the boat to Hamnsund. There you switch to the bus. The bus ride from Hamnsund to Finnøy goes along the newly built “Nordøyvegen” (North islands road). The road starts with a spectacular bridge and continues over the islands – partly on narrow roads, partly in newly built tunnels – both over land and under the sea. . Ålesund - Finnøy - Ona - Ålesund This round trip takes you to Ona – a tiny island community out in the ocean. The trip starts in Ålesund by by high-speed ferry to Harøya. Then you go by bus to Finnøya and on to Ona by ferry. The ferry stops at Sandøya before Ona. Passengers to Ona should stay on the ferry during the short stay at Sandøya. Ona is Norway’s southernmost traditional fishing village and has a permanent population of approx. 25. The island also has a ceramics workshop and a small kiosk/shop. In the summer (typically June - August), there’s a café and possibilities for overnight stays. On “Onakalven”, the island highest point, you find Ona lighthouse. From the lighthouse, you have a magnificent view of the ocean and towards the mainland. Ona is a tranquil place where you can thoroughly enjoy the peace and quiet! The trip to Ona is as fantastic in the summer as in the winter. Remember, though, that the island is located out in the ocean and the weather conditions can be harsh. Therefore, it is important to bring warm and windproof clothes. Ålesund - Sykkylven - Strandafjellet - Stranda - Sjøholt - Ålesund This round trip starts in Ålesund and takes you via Sykkylven to Stranda and back to Ålesund via Liabygda, Stordal and Sjøholt. Along the route you can enjoy magnificent views of the beautiful landscape. If you choose the early departure from Ålesund you can choose to make a stop at Strandafjellet and take the next bus to Stranda (12:47 from Strandafjellet). Ålesund - Hellesylt - Geiranger - Sjøholt - Ålesund Visit the beautiful fjord Geirangerfjorden and enjoy the view of the mighty mountains! This trip goes from Ålesund via Sykkylven, famous for furniture industry, over the mountain pass to Stranda and from there to Hellesylt where the fjord cruise to Geiranger starts. The ferry cruise from Hellesylt to Geiranger takes 1 hour, and while cruising down the fjord you can see beautiful waterfalls and small farms in the steep mountain sides. In Geiranger you will have time for some sightseeing, shopping, and perhaps a visit to the Norwegian Fjord Centre which are only a few minutes on foot from the centre of Geiranger and located next to Hotel Union. The bus trip back to Ålesund goes via the spectacular Eagle Road. The Eagle Road is part of the road between Geiranger and Trollstigen, which is a Norwegian Scenic Route. Norwegian Scenic Routes are selected roads that run through landscapes with unique natural qualities, along coasts and fjords, mountains and waterfalls. From the Eagle Road the bus then continues to Eidsdal where you take the ferry to Linge. From Linge the trip goes via Sjøholt to Ålesund. Note! When you arrive at the ferry harbor at Hellesylt, please approach the ferry personnel to show them you already have tickets. You do not have to wait in line together with travelers who are buying their tickets at Hellesylt. Ålesund - Sjøholt - Geiranger - Trollstigen - Ålesund Experience two of the most amazing roads in Norway! This round trip starts in Ålesund and head for the UNESCO Unesco World Heritage listed Geirangerfjord. After a one hour stop in Geiranger the bus continues via Valldal towards Åndalsnes. The trip to Åndalsnes goes via Trollstigen, one of the best known and most visited tourist sites in Norway. The highest point of the road lies 850 meters above sea level. The bus stops here for 25 minutes, enabling you to enjoy the spectacular view. The bus then curves down the 11 hairpin turns towards Åndalsnes. From Åndalsnes, the return to Ålesund goes along the Romsdalsfjord and over the 1290 meters long Tresfjord bridge. Option: It is possible to stop at Valldal instead of going to Geiranger. Those who wish to do this, must continue by bus 210 from Linge ferry harbor to Valldal instead of taking the Linge–Eidsdal ferry. You then have time to explore Valldal on your own until bus 220 returns from Geiranger via Valldal to Trollstigen and Åndalsnes with return to Ålesund. Ålesund - Hellesylt - Geiranger Visit one of the world’s most beautiful fjords - enjoy the Sunnmøre Alps! This one-way trip goes from Ålesund to Geiranger. The trip starts in Ålesund, goes via Sykkylven, famous for its furniture industry, over the mountain pass to Stranda and from there to Hellesylt where the fjord cruise to Geiranger starts. In the summer, you can choose to leave the bus at Strandafjellet and take advantage of the various offers there, for example a gondola ride to the top or a short hike. Note that the gondola is only open certain periods of the year. For opening hours, see www.strandafjellet.no.) If you want to participate in activities like the guided hike or bike tour you must make an overnight stay. Therefore – in the summer - your ticket for this trip is valid for 2 days, including the departure date. The ferry cruise from Hellesylt to Geiranger takes 1 hour in the summer and 1 hour 15 minutes in the winter, and while cruising the fjord you can see beautiful waterfalls and small farms in the steep mountain sides. Note! The summer ferry service is a commercial service. When you arrive at the ferry harbour at Hellesylt, please approach the ferry personnel to show them you already have tickets.
