UNESCO Geiranger - Trollstigen - Åndalsnes (one way)

Geiranger - Valldal - Trollstigen - Åndalsnes

This trip, which is also known as "The Golden Route", takes you from Geiranger to Åndalsnes. The small town of Åndalsnes is idyllically located in the valley of Romsdal, at the mouth of the river Rauma, by the Romsdalsfjord.
The route includes both the Eagle Road, a zig-zaged road up the steep valley sides of Geirangerfjord with a number of breathtaking view points overlooking the valley, and the world famous Trollstigen, with its hairpin turns down towards Åndalsnes.
The road between Geiranger and Trollstigen is a Norwegian Scenic Route. Norwegian Scenic Routes are selected roads that run through landscapes with unique natural qualities, along coasts and fjords, mountains and waterfalls. The routes are intended as alternatives to the main roads, and the drive itself should be an enjoyable experience. On the Norwegian Scenic Routes web page you can read more about Norwegian Scenic Route Geiranger – Trollstigen.

Åndalsnes is a nice town, majestically situated between the fjord and the mountains. Around Åndalsnes you have all possibilities to experience various activities, from stand-up paddling in the rivers to mountain hikes at all levels, via ferrata, or a gondola ride to the top of the Nesaksla mountain – where the view is spectacular.

When you book this trip, you will receive an e-mail with a ticket that is valid for the whole trip. You will also receive a tour description that contains detailed information about departure times and where you must change to another bus, boat of ferry – when applicable. The tour description also includes some information about the trip and the destination.

For many of the trips there is a free audio guide available that you can download to your mobile phone. The guide displays text, pictures, and audio information about points of interest along the route. The tour description you receive includes more information about downloading the audioguide.

About our trips

This is a “Travel like the locals” tour. The tours use public transport, i.e. regular buses, ferries and boats, but we have done the planning for you so that you can concentrate on enjoying your trip. You travel on your own - there is no guide or tour leader. On most of our tours you must change several times between different buses/ferries/boats, and it is up to you to make sure you catch your connections – truly travelling like a local! The tours are set up so that the buses, ferries and boats connect.
