Round trip to UNESCO Geiranger & Trollstigen

Ålesund - Sjøholt - Geiranger - Trollstigen - Ålesund

Experience two of the most amazing roads in Norway!

This round trip starts in Ålesund and head for the UNESCO Unesco World Heritage listed Geirangerfjord. After a one hour stop in Geiranger the bus continues via Valldal towards Åndalsnes. The trip to Åndalsnes goes via Trollstigen, one of the best known and most visited tourist sites in Norway.

The highest point of the road lies 850 meters above sea level. The bus stops here for 25 minutes, enabling you to enjoy the spectacular view. The bus then curves down the 11 hairpin turns towards Åndalsnes.

From Åndalsnes, the return to Ålesund goes along the Romsdalsfjord and over the 1290 meters long Tresfjord bridge.

Option:

It is possible to stop at Valldal instead of going to Geiranger. Those who wish to do this, must continue by bus 210 from Linge ferry harbor to Valldal instead of taking the Linge–Eidsdal ferry.

You then have time to explore Valldal on your own until bus 220 returns from Geiranger via Valldal to Trollstigen and Åndalsnes with return to Ålesund. See the time table for the departure from Valldal.

When you book this trip, you will receive an e-mail with a ticket that is valid for the whole trip. You will also receive a tour description that contains detailed information about departure times and where you must change to another bus, boat of ferry – when applicable. The tour description also includes some information about the trip and the destination.

For many of the trips there is a free audio guide available that you can download to your mobile phone. The guide displays text, pictures, and audio information about points of interest along the route. The tour description you receive includes more information about downloading the audioguide.

About our trips

This is a “Travel like the locals” tour. The tours use public transport, i.e. regular buses, ferries and boats, but we have done the planning for you so that you can concentrate on enjoying your trip. You travel on your own - there is no guide or tour leader. On most of our tours you must change several times between different buses/ferries/boats, and it is up to you to make sure you catch your connections – truly travelling like a local! The tours are set up so that the buses, ferries and boats connect.
