Explore Sekken (round trip)

From NOK 120

Molde - Sekken - Molde

The island Sekken is located 40 minutes from Molde town – by ferry. This trip combines the ferry ride with a bus trip on the island. You can also explore this island on foot or by bicycle.

You take the ferry from Molde ferry quay and then the bus from the ferry quay to the south side of the island – and the other way around on the return. The ferry ride alone is an adventure, and during the bus trip you will see large parts of the island before arriving at Sekkenes, Eik and Vestad.

At Eik you find the school and kindergarten, the community meeting house “Ungdomshuset”, the “Samsen” grocery store, Sekken museum and Galleri Sekken. “Samsen” is open 09.00–10.00 and 14.30–17.30 on weekdays and 10.00–14.00 on Saturdays.

Galleri Sekken has exhibitions regularly. Outside of the announced opening hours, the gallery is also open for visits on request. Visiting the exhibitions is free. You find more information on the Facebook page Galleri Sekken.

Sekken Museum opens for tours on request. Normally, it is possible to request a tour spontaneously on arrival. However, groups visiting Sekken should book in advance.

During the summer and at the beginning of the autumn, Sekken museum hosts a café in “Gamle Bedehus” (old house of prayer), run by volunteers. Opening hours and menu is announced on the Facebook page Sekken Oppslag and on Sekken.net (web site and Facebook page).

Sekken offers many opportunities for nice hikes – both the quite simple ones and more advanced. The hiking post program Stikk UT! has two destinations at Sekken. The Stikk UT!-season lasts from 1st May to 31st October. See stikkut.no for more information.

TurSekken is a possibility for individuals and small and large groups to get a tour companion. A local with good knowledge or the island will serve as guide and meet you at the ferry quay for a hike across the island via Fjellvegen (the “mountain road), which is a fine hiking trail, and “bygdevegen” (the village road). During the trip there is story telling and an opportunity to register at the Teppinga StikkUt! post. The hike ends up at the old prayer house.

It is also possible to get a companion from Sekken museum to the Stikk UT! Post at Eikaberget, where well marked trails offers several return alternatives.

The TurSekken hikes are free. Usually, a companion can be arranged on short notice, but it is preferable the request a companion some time in advance. Information and pictures can be found on Sekken.net.

When you book this trip, you will receive an e-mail with a ticket that is valid for the whole trip. You will also receive a tour description that contains detailed information about departure times and where you must change to another bus, boat of ferry – when applicable. The tour description also includes some information about the trip and the destination.

For many of the trips there is a free audio guide available that you can download to your mobile phone. The guide displays text, pictures, and audio information about points of interest along the route. The tour description you receive includes more information about downloading the audioguide.

About our trips

This is a “Travel like the locals” tour. The tours use public transport, i.e. regular buses, ferries and boats, but we have done the planning for you so that you can concentrate on enjoying your trip. You travel on your own - there is no guide or tour leader. On most of our tours you must change several times between different buses/ferries/boats, and it is up to you to make sure you catch your connections – truly travelling like a local! The tours are set up so that the buses, ferries and boats connect.
