Geiranger - Hellesylt - Stryn

This trip starts with a ferry cruise from Geiranger to Hellesylt. The cruise takes approx. 1 hour, and you will see beautiful waterfalls and small farms in the steep mountain sides.

On most of the trips (except on weekdays in April and October) you have some time to explore Hellesylt. Between the bus stop and the ferry harbour you find the Hellesyltfossen waterfall. This is a mighty waterfall and is one of the most photographed sites in the area. It’s an impressive sight early in the summer when all the snow melts.

At Hellesylt you also find the Per Gynt Galleri. The main purpose of the gallery is to present the enormous wooden reliefs by artist and woodcarver Oddvin Parr (1933 - 2010). The works goes from floor to ceiling, and all the motives are from the Norwegian author Henrik Ibsen's work "Peer Gynt".

From Hellesylt, the trip goes by bus through the Hornindal valley where you pass the Hornindalsvatnen lake – the deepest lake (514 m) in Northern Europe. You then go on to Grodås and then to Stryn.

Stryn is a lively little town with shops, restaurants and other service offerings. The local clothing brands Ricco Vero and Skogstad are popular to bring home.

From Stryn it is easy to continue to Loen using a local bus. In Loen you find Loen Skylift, Via Ferrata and many other activities. Use the Skyss travel planner to find departure times. You can buy tickets on board and pay with a credit card or cash.

From May to September you can take the Glacier bus from Stryn or Loen to visit the Briksdal glacier, which is an arm of the Jostedal glacier – the largest glacier on the European mainland.

In the summer you can also go from Loen to the beautiful Lodalen valley using Loen Shuttle.

When you book this trip, you will receive an e-mail with a ticket that is valid for the whole trip. You will also receive a tour description that contains detailed information about departure times and where you must change to another bus, boat of ferry – when applicable. The tour description also includes some information about the trip and the destination.

For many of the trips there is a free audio guide available that you can download to your mobile phone. The guide displays text, pictures, and audio information about points of interest along the route. The tour description you receive includes more information about downloading the audioguide.
